
Hunter Dickinson scored 33 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, and Kansas held on for an 83-76 win over No. 24 Arizona in a Big 12 Conference showdown on Saturday afternoon in Lawrence, Kan.
Zeke Mayo added 20 points and hit 5 of 7 attempts from 3-point range for Kansas (20-11, 11-9 Big 12). KJ Adams scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Jaden Bradley scored 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting to lead Arizona (20-11, 14-6). Caleb Love scored 16 points and Trey Townsend finished with 13.
Rylen Griffen made a jump shot for Kansas to even the score at 68-all with 5:44 to go. That started a decisive finish for the Jayhawks, who finished the game on a 17-8 run.
Arizona started the second half on a 24-14 run to grab a 54-53 lead with 13:25 to go. The burst concluded with a jump shot and a layup by Bradley, followed by a 3-pointer by Love off an assist from Bradley.
Kansas built a 39-30 lead at the half.
The Jayhawks jumped to a 9-2 advantage in the first three-plus minutes. Adams opened the scoring with a dunk, Griffen drained a 3-pointer, Dickinson made a jump shot and Adams added another dunk to account for the early frenzy.
Arizona rallied to gain a 17-15 lead with 9:11 to go in the first half. Bradley had a steal on defense, and Tobe Awaka capitalized with a jumper on the offensive end to put the Wildcats on top.
Kansas erupted with a 26-10 run to pull ahead 39-25 with 1:17 remaining in the half. The run ended with nine straight points by the Jayhawks, thanks to a 3-pointer by Mayo, a jump shot by Dickinson and a layup by Flory Bidunga.
The Wildcats cut the deficit to nine in the final minute before the break. Carter Bryant made three free-throw attempts and Bradley added a layup in the closing seconds.
