Two Australian actors have been celebrated alongside the likes of Prince Harry, Adele and Taylor Swift in an illustrious new list from People.
Though they haven’t been named ‘Sexiest Alive’ (yet), Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi have been named among the publication’s 25 ‘Most Intriguing’ people of 2023
Described as the stars who “kept us talking in 2023”, the list includes a whole host of American talent as well as a few Brits and just two Aussies.
People didn’t share exactly how they judged the list, but ‘intriguing’ is defined as “arousing one’s curiosity or interest; fascinating” and these stars definitely fit the brief.
Robbie, 33, was lauded for her role in Barbie, in which she played the ‘stereotypical’ version of the titular doll and made headlines around the world in the process.
People celebrated the Queensland-born actress for bringing life to the film, which had “languished in Hollywood for years before Robbie’s surprisingly subversive take took the industry by storm”.
Her on-screen performance was captivating, as was her Barbie-inspired wardrobe on the international press tour for the film.
Robbie stepped out in several ensembles that were perfect recreations from the original doll’s wardrobe, as well as other outfits inspired by Barbies through the years.

Speaking to 9Honey in 2023, the actress revealed that if her Hollywood career ever fell through she’d make do with roles in regional Aussie productions.
“I can’t imagine a world where I never get to act anymore. That would be heartbreaking – but I’d find a way. [Even if] I did regional theatre! I’d still do it,” she told 9Honey Celebrity.
“I get so much fulfilment out of the filmmaking process and I know that if something happened, and they wouldn’t let me act, I would still hopefully find a way to be on a film set, and that’s what matters.”

She wasn’t the only Aussie celebrated on People’s new list though; Euphoria and Priscilla star Jacob Elordi, 26, also made the cut.
Also born in Queensland, Elordi rose to fame in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth franchise and when asked what drew him to the role of Noah Flynn, he was surprisingly honest.
“It was probably the fact that I’d never worked before in my entire life,” he told 9Honey in 2020.
“I was doing every audition that’d come across my table from between the ages of 16 and 20. I’d done 100 auditions and The Kissing Booth just happened to be the 100th.”
In 2019 he took a darker role as Nate Jacobs in Euphoria and this year he made waves as a serious actor in Priscilla, where he plays Elvis Presley, and psychological thriller Saltburn – which Robbie herself just so happened to produce.
Other stars celebrated on People’s new list include the likes of Prince Harry, Adele, Britney Spears, Pamela Anderson and Pedro Pascal.
Taylor Swift also made the list, as did her new boyfriend Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce.
