The college informed the West Bengal CM that it was “better off without her blessings” and added that the varsity was “used to PM Modi’s margdarshan”.
VISVA BHARATI’S STATEMENT
“West Bengal chief minister sees everything using her ears because she only believes what her sycophants tell her,” learn a press release issued by the Visva Bharati College.
Accusing the Bengal CM of constructing incorrect and irresponsible statements in regards to the varsity, the college stated, “We would like to request the chief minister to stop seeing through her ears and use her brain. Today, your minister and Vice Chancellor nominated by you is in jail (referring to Partha Chatterjee). How did that happen? That’s because you are beleaguered with your own decisions based on the advice of sycophants. Your favourite disciple, without whom you cannot imagine Birbhum, is also languishing in jail (referring to Anubrata Mondal).”
“The chief minister spoke negatively about fencing of the campus. But, the entire Bolpur town was fortified for her security. Does her residence at Harish Chatterjee Street not have boundary walls? Let us add that the process of fencing began three decades back. That time, so called Ashramiks did not protest…In 2020, when chief minister’s beloved partymen destroyed a heritage gate, why did the same Ashramiks not protest then? Actually, their stranglehold has been ended. That’s why the anger. They want to establish their dominance in the Ashram. But they forget that with rights come responsibility. We hope that the chief minister thinks the same too,” it added.
“Visva Bharati is a central university. We are better off without your blessings because we are used to the margdarshan of the prime minister….You are the chief minister of West Bengal. It is your responsibility to safeguard the self-respect of people in the state,” the college stated in its assertion.

In the meantime, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee got here out in assist of Amartya Sen amid allegations of land grabbing towards him. The CM, who met Amartya Sen at his ancestral home in Birbhum on Monday, accused the BJP of attempting to insult the veteran economist.
“A letter was sent by Visva Bharati in which Amartya Sen was accused of encroaching 13 decibel university land and asked for its return. I went through the records and asked officers to find out. We have dug out original land records,” stated Mamata Banerjee after personally handing over the state authorities land data to the Nobel laureate.
“Why is such a person being insulted? Such a stalwart. Why is this attempt to malign him? I want Visva Bharati to run properly instead of attempts to saffronisation,” she added.
