Deadspin | BetBoom dominate Gaimin for FISSUE Universe: Episode 4 title

BetBoom Team swept Gaimin Gladiators 3-0 in the grand final on Sunday of the FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 event.

Their best-of-five clash was a rematch of Saturday’s upper-bracket final, a best-of-three won by BetBoom Team 2-1.

BetBoom collected the $250,000 first-place prize, while Gaimin Gladiators earned $100,000. Gaimin had advanced to the grand final by winning the lower-bracket final earlier Sunday, 2-1 over Team Tidebound, which earned $60,000 for third place.

The grand final was one-sided, as BetBoom won in 37 minutes on green, 36 minutes on red and 41 minutes on green.

Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko of Russia produced an average kill-death-assist ratio of 13.7/1.7/15.7 to lead BetBoom. Teammate Danil “gpk” Skutin of Russia averaged an 8.7/2/17.3 K-D-A.

Marcus “Ace” Christensen of Denmark helped Gaimin with a K-D-A of 2.7/7.7/3.3.

In the lower-bracket final, Gaimin dropped the first map to Team Tidebound on red in 48 minutes. Gaimin then won in 40 and 54 minutes, both on red. Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov of Kazakhstan paced Gaimin with a 5.3/2.3/6.3 K-D-A.

The $500,000 Dota 2 tournament began with a group stage that used a modified Swiss system for 16 teams. All matches were best-of-three. The top eight teams advanced to the playoffs, and the remaining teams were eliminated.

The playoffs featured a double-elimination bracket. All matches were best-of-three until the grand final, which was best-of-five.
