A longtime North Carolina elected Democrat is refusing calls to resign Tuesday after being charged in a hit-and-run incident wherein Raleigh police say she drove her state-issued automobile right into a parked automotive after which walked away from the scene.

Wooden stated Monday that “I apologize to the owner of the car I hit, my staff and all I serve for leaving the scene of the accident.”
