After 18 years of marriage, Tori Spelling has filed for divorce from Dean McDermott.
Court documents cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind the divorce, with 17 June, 2023 listed as the official separation date.
Documents show that Spelling has requested sole physical custody of the couple’s children with joint legal custody and McDermott’s visitation rights to be determined at a later date.

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum has also asked for the court to award her spousal support and terminate McDermott’s ability to receive the same.
The couple share five children together, Bea Dean, 7, Finn Davey, 11, Hattie Margaret, 12, Stella Doreen, 15, and Liam Aaron, 17.
Spelling and McDermott first announced their separation back in June of 2023, when the Open Range actor shared a statement via his Instagram.
“It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own,” he wrote.
The post has since been deleted.

The couple first met on the set of 2006 film Mind Over Murder. They married just one year later on May 7, 2006 in a private ceremony in Fiji.
In 2014, McDermott publicly admitted to having an affair, a situation he later expressed feeling “shame” over as the world watched it all play out on the couple’s reality show, True Tori.
The pair worked to repair their marriage, with Spelling telling People in a 2016 interview that they “had to start over,” sharing that the relationship had to be ‘completely rebuilt’.

In 2020, she shared that McDermott’s affair was one of her “biggest fears” throughout their relationship.
“I was like, he’s going to cheat on me, he’s going to cheat on me, he’s going to cheat on me,” she told Women On Top podcast hosts Tammin Sursok and Roxy Manning.
“So when it happened, I was like, ‘See, I always thought from day one he was going to cheat on me,’ and it wasn’t about him, that was about me,” she shared. “I was like, ‘Okay, I know I’m not good enough,’ that’s how I felt about myself and one day he’s going to realise that and he’s gonna find someone else.”
Their relationship took a turn for the worse in the eyes of the public in November 2021, when Spelling shared a family holiday card on Instagram with McDermott noticeably missing.

In November 2023, McDermott shared some behind the scenes details of their marriage breakdown in an interview with the Daily Mail, explaining that their time together was full of “anger and… yelling.
“It ended up with me drinking a fifth of tequila every night, seven days a week, and a handful of narcos [narcotics] by myself with, you know, a beautiful family in the other room,” he said. “That’s what it led to and that’s what led to the brokenness. I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t live that life anymore.”

McDermott has since moved on with girlfriend Lily Calo, while Spelling was spotted kissing CEO of Santa Monica-based agency, Neuron Syndicate Inc., Ryan Cramer, in November.
Despite their tumultuous relationship, McDermott told Page Six in March that his former partner is still his “biggest fan” adding that she “just wants [him] to be happy.
“She’s such an incredible woman that way,” he said. “She’s one of the most generous people I’ve ever met in my life.”
